[ SATURDAY WINTER 15, YEAR TWO • ALL DAY • CLOUDY ]

The Winter Solstice marks the shortest day of the year and a revival of nature. Farmers often celebrate this as a time when the soil is renewed to make way for fresher and healthier crops for the next season but, as years have progressed, it has become a time for villagers to gather by Nivalis Lake for a celebration.

With the lake having frozen over since the first snowfall of the season, it’s perfect for ice-skating. Don’t have your own skates? No problem! A stand has been set-up beside the lake that rents out skates for a very reasonable price!

If ice is not your thing, why not play in the snow? Build an igloo and make it a home, or help contribute to a growing army of snowmen! For all your kids (and you kids at heart) one of the local farmers is offering sleigh rides too!

Of course, when things get a little chilly, there’s plenty of refreshments to warm cold bones. Enjoy a hot cup of cocoa with plenty of whipped cream and marshmallows or feast upon some traditional chestnuts. Rumour has it that there’s even an alcoholic hot drink on the menu, if you know what to ask for!

Beware, however. Though everything may seem serene, it’s unlikely that’ll last for long. With the amount of savages roaming the village, a snowball fight is surely inevitable…

Winter 15th
Fiona was extremely happy about the winter solstice, mainly because it meant there would be snow and and she could build a snowman. The blond loved the winter for that reason, building snowmen and making snow angels always brought happy memories back to her.

The young blonde woman left the house and happily walked to Nivalis Lake. The once beautiful lake was even more beautiful as the snow covered the ground as a thin white sheet trying to protect what's underneath from the weather adversities.

The sight was indeed amazing, it was like a scenery from a dream, so white, so pure and she loved every inch of it, however there was one thing concerning her, she would love to try some ice-skating but unfortunately she knew for fact that she had more chances of skiing with her behind than with her feet.

Fiona walked a bit further and stepped on ice and immediately lost her balance and fell, just as she predicted, she's an awful ice-skater

Winter 15th
Laying on her bed, looking up she ceiling Ella was still unsure if she wanted to go to the festival at Nivalis Lake, truth be told she was still scared of looking at the lake or being near it to be completely honest, but it had been a year, it was about time for her to let it go.

She got up, got dressed and was out of the house, confident that she could do it. She walked over to the lake and somehow could even get on the ice, she sat down and looked at it. She could still remember when she touched the cold water on that day, obviously she didn't learn the lesson and she was up for another swim, that one was the critical one, the one she feared the most.

She sat there looking at the lake, her body began to shake lightly at the sight of ice skates, once something she loved to do she was now scared of doing it.

Samuel D. Barker
SATURDAY WINTER 15, YEAR TWO • ALL DAY • CLOUDY
"I feel the same, I’m on my way, and I say things have changed for me, and that’s okay."
[ TAG - Open! ]

Samuel despised this festival. It was meant to be a celebration of something farming-y traditionally but now it was more of a celebration of the evil he knew as the cold.

Winter. People liked the season and that left Samuel puzzled. He hated the cold, he hated the snow, he hated hailstorms and he hated the blustery winds. He hated it all equally and, where he could, he stayed indoors. Wrapped in three blankets (like the very over-the-top person he was), he resembled a bear in hibernation.

He hadn’t attended a Winter Solstice since he’d been a young kiddo with a nose that was even more disproportionate on his face thANn it was now. But, naturally, when his best friend and best niece wanted him to come, Samuel was cheering “Go, Winter Solstice!”

Samuel waited at the edge of Nivalis Lake by the refreshments stand. He was wrapped up like a cinnamon roll in a coat, two scarves, a pair of gloves, and the classic bobble hat. Still, his teeth were already chattering as he brought his coffee closer to his face and allowed for the steam to hit his face.

“Goddess, do you wish it were Summer too?”
he suddenly asked to the stranger beside him.

"Truth is that it was always going to end, this symphony buzzing in my head"
[ TAG - Open! ]

Penny wanted all eyes to be on her as she started to spin on the ice. Her arms moved upwards with a flourish as she picked up speed, the ruby ring on a particular finger of her left hand catching what little light the sun had today. Penny was an otherwise average skater but had such an excess of confidence that it had been easy to start experimenting with fancy moves.

She was narcissistic, grinning as she spun round, but unfortauntely she wasn’t able to properly prove her ice skills with a neat finish. Instead, nausea suddenly overtook her body and Penny couldn’t spin anymore. She couldn’t. She was going to be sick.

Her skates scraped the ice as she pulled to an emergency stop and she stumbled into another skater. Breathing heavy and ragged, she wasn’t able to mumble out any words at all. All she had was a look on her face that clearly read she was distressed.

"Every time I look in the mirror, all these lines on my face getting clearer"
[ TAG - Ella, open! ]

On the way to the festival, Oliver had decided the entire village was his Winter Solstice playground. With the snow having piled up from the three-day snowstorm that had just departed Ioana, Oliver kept getting distracted as they traversed the slippery streets. Into and out of snow piles he went, jumping around, rolling around, and generally getting his dose of snow fun before they’d even arrived at Nivalis Lake. In the end, it helped Elliot. By the time they’d reached the festival grounds, Oliver was taking a break from being so rambunctious, and that allowed Elliot to hold his hand as he approached a familiar face for a quick chat. Except, the idea of small talk faded from Elliot’s mind as they grew closer. Something about Eleanor Walls looked off today.

“Ms. Walls,”
he said softly, lightly touching her arm. “Is everything alright? You look like you've seen a ghost.”

She looked upset and Elliot was concerned for her.

HAYDEN GREENE
Winter Solstice-Outfit-Ethereal (As Eugene), Open

Hayden loved the atmosphere of the Winter solstice. In a season that had so much for her to think about, it was nice to take a break from that as everyone in the town got hyped for the togetherness they found in this festival. They had gotten back from the city late last night, and while she would have usually said that Eugene left her house that evening…he didn’t. His touch from the previous night still tingled against her skin in a phantom touch even now, so long after it had been done. But it was a good feeling, and despite having run into Brandon, having been to the city yesterday, she decided that today she’d let herself be in a good mood.

She took Eugene’s hand as they found their way down to the lake, everything was all set up already, the snow was plentiful, and she could hear the chatter of some of the villagers that had already arrived and the whinny of the horses, the Benson Ranch providing sleigh rides was something new this year, and she knew that a lot of the kids that were flitting about the village were excited about the new addition. But Eugene had never been to this festival before, and she had suggested that they come to see what was going on this year. Rusty was at her side, tail wagging excitedly as she clearly couldn’t wait to bound out into the sea of white snow, but she had left Cody at home because the dog was still not used to the feeling of the stuff on his paws, nor did he want to wear the protective mittens on his paws that Rusty has grown accustomed to.

As Rusty slid towards the lake, Hayden called out to her. “Careful, you’re going to—“ but it was too late, as the dog slipped onto the ice and was already sliding out towards the center. “I warned you.” Hayden finished, the dog looking at her with question in her eyes before sliding back towards her couple of favorite humans across the ice. “Rusty absolutely loves this festival.” She said as she turned to Eugene, the dog was clearly happy about all the snow, flitting about playfully as they walked through the area. “Ever built an igloo?” she asked. “Rusty loves those things.”

JACKSON MADDOCK
Winter Solstice-Outfit-Tecri (As Fiona), Open

Jackson had been coming to this festival every year since Jazmyn was a little girl. It wasn’t really because he particularly enjoyed the snow, but because Jazmyn did. And when she enjoyed something, then it was only a matter of time before Jackson started looking forward to things like this too. “Don’t go too far Jaz.” He had reminded her once they had arrived, though excitement had brought the girl to wander off to go see something. Jackson trusted the other villagers to tell him if something was amiss, especially if Elliot if Jazmyn had gone to find her young friend Oliver. Aside from that Inky had darted off after her, so he knew she’d be safe and he didn’t need to worry too much.

Though now he had a bit of a predicament where he was stuck with two mugs of hot chocolate with no Jazmyn in sight. So, what was he supposed to do with two? He didn’t enjoy a cup of hot cocoa enough to have two, but with all the dogs around he couldn’t quite consider dumping it either. And that was when he spotted a familiar blonde in the crowd of people, and she almost looked as excited about the snow as Jazmyn did. It was seeing people take pleasure in the festivals of Ioana that made him smile, but it also could have been because the person he was observing was someone in particular.

He looked down at the second mug of chocolate and nodded to himself before walking over to her. Unable to reach out to let her know that he was there, he lightly bumped her side, but carefully to ensure none of the chocolate fell. “Cocoa for your thoughts?” he asked, offering her the mug that had been intended for his daughter, who had also managed to pull a Houdini on him, but he was sure she’d find him later. After all, she loved to build things out of snow together. Though with Jazmyn they weren’t always snowmen, sometimes things more profound, like birds. Some would argue he had a strange child, he found her very smart for her age.

SCOUT LAYTON
Winter Solstice-Outfit-Aofie (As Wesley), Open

With the winter semester coming to a close soon, and finals coming up faster than either of them could keep up with, there was no need to explain why Scout had called for an emergency day where the two of them could get away from books and studies. Which was very strange for Scout, and she wasn’t sure that Wesley fully believed that she was actually her when she was the one that suggested coming out to Ioana for their yearly festival. Perhaps Oliver had killed her, had her replaced, who knew? But what she did know was that she and Wesley needed to have some fun, and it had to be out of the city.

“I can’t believe Lucy woke us up three hours before the train even showed up.” She mumbled as she took a sip of the coffee they had brought from the station and passed it to Wesley. Lucy had flipped her out of bed this morning, the one night lately she hadn’t spent at Oliver’s because she knew she and Wesley were going to the festival, and the same sister proceeded to head into Wes’ room and sit on him until he had gotten up. But they were here and, and the air smelled of hot chocolate, marshmallows, and horse. That wasn’t a smell Scout found as pleasing, but she could get over it. She stretched her arms over her head. “Guess that doesn’t matter, at least we were sure we caught the train.”

She glanced at Wesley, before looking around at all the things there was to do. “So, what do you want to do first? Get something to eat? Build a snowman? I even brought my ice skates, even though he both know how bad I am at that.” She said, motioning to her backpack to assure him of their location. “If my ass isn’t sore by tonight I’ll be lucky.”

Winter 15th
Fiona managed to reach the snow on the ground, the lake was too slippery for her, she had no idea how to ice skate. The blonde dusted the snow from her coat while still down, once she got up she began dusting the rest of the snow out of her clothing. She was still excited about the snow, the prospect of building a snowman was rather exciting and she was going to build one, even if she was going to do it alone.

She suddenly felt a little bump and once she turned she saw Jackson, a smile grew wide on her face, she just couldn’t help it. She hadn’t seen him when she got to the lake, she probably arrived before him or else she wouldn’t have tried to adventure herself on some ice-skating.

She saw the mug and nodded ”Sure.” she said accepting the mug he offered her. She put the mug in front of her mouth, behind it there was a rather goofy smile as she looked at Jackson. ”How are you?” she asked him. Her eyes weren’t leaving his face; she was interested in hearing the answer. ”I hope everything is alright.” she asked him.

”I see you decided to take a break from work, I’d happy you did so, working all the time isn’t good for one’s health.” she said. She gently placed her hand on his arm before taking it back, it was an unconscious movement that earned her a light blush on her face.

The fear was perhaps too much, she should have stayed home, she couldn’t take it, she could still feel the cold water freezing her until the moment she could no longer remember what was happening. A voice snapped her out of her thoughts, it was someone she had met before, it was Elliot, the young librarian.

Ella got up and tried to stay calm in from of him, trying not to lose her mind but it was easier said than done. ”Hello Mr. Mercier…and please, call me Ella.” she said looking at him, the warm touch somehow calmed her down. ”I’m alright, just trying to get over something that happened here.” was she going to tell him what happened? Probably not, he didn’t need to hear the details and he probably didn’t want to.

”How have you been?”

Andy was already at Nivalis Lake, she had taken her ice-skaters and was happily skating on the lake when she saw a blonde chick fall, she couldn’t help herself and laughed, she tried to skate away just in case someone was watching, a cop shouldn’t laugh at other people however Andy snorted a little as she laughed.

The girl’s brothers watched her and laughed when she snorted, that didn’t go well with her and she tackled one of her brothers throwing him to the ground, one thing Andy didn’t like was to lose or when people made fun of her, so she made sure he wasn’t going to make fun of her anymore.

Andy decided to skate away from her siblings and ended up on land, carefully she made her way to a bench where she switched to her boots where she could walk without the fear of falling, eventually she ended up bumping into someone.

[ TAG - Ella, open! ]

“Ella, my apologies,”
Elliot said. He’d foolishly forgotten, in the time since they’d last seen each other, that Ms. Walls wanted to be called by her first name.

She seemed soothed by his touch, the light shaking he’d felt becoming stillness by the time his hand dropped back by his side. He listened to her, nodding to let her know that he understood and felt sympathy for her, but Elliot didn’t pry. He could see she didn’t want to talk about it. Whatever had happened had clearly being a horrible experience for Ella, and Elliot didn’t particularly want to force her to relive it.

“I’ve been OK,”
Elliot lied. Just like Ella, he had his own problems and his own issues that he didn’t want to think about right now. “A little busier,” he continued to lie. “But other than that, we’ve been quite alright, haven’t we, Ollie?”

Elliot tugged gently on Oliver’s hand, the young boy jumping into life again.

“Yes, yes!”
he cried out.

Eugene C. Beaumont
SATURDAY WINTER 15, YEAR TWO • LATE MORNING • CLOUDY
"Well he was just hanging around, then he fell in love and he didn't know how, but he couldn't get out"
[ TAG - Hayden, open! ]

This was somewhat of an iconic day for Eugene. This was his first day spent out in public as a man who was no longer a virgin. Penny couldn’t pull that card on him now, even though Eugene had only ever blushed and never bitten to it anyway. No, he’d revel in silence like he did now, holding Hayden’s hand and trying not to grin endlessly like a mad man when he thought about what they’d been up to the night before.

Hayden and their three dogs had quickly become a family of sorts for Eugene, not that he admitted it because surely that was moving far too fast when they’d only started dating early last Autumn. He was simply happy to reflect on how much he loved spending time with Hayden, Rusty, and Baby Mutt and Cody (both young dogs of whom were not here today).

Eugene watched as Rusty slid across the ice like the dork she was. The man whom most of the villagers deemed as cold as the weather outside today had the tiniest of smirks laced across his lips. It grew bright when Hayden looked at him. It always did.

Clearly,
he replied. His tone would surely have seemed abrupt to anybody else other than Hayden. Eugene was slowly getting more confident in the idea that she knew him better than that now. “And no, I haven’t. Tell me, Hayden, when you think I, Eugene Beaumont, went out to ‘play’ in the snow. If I wanted an igloo, I would have paid somebody to build me the best igloo.”

He couldn’t help it. Eugene was poking fun at himself but the light laughter that erupted from his lips gave that fact away to any eavesdroppers. Eugene liked to keep their jokes inside which was easy to do when his tone always had that pompous edge that made anything ridiculous he said believable, but, right at this moment, he was simply too happy to keep up pretences.

Ella smiled and raised her hand. ”No need to apologize, don’t worry about it, it’s not important I suppose.” she said. Ella was dying to start a fight with someone, but at a festival? And with Oliver there? He was nothing but a kid, she needed to control herself and stop trying to hurt others.

The girl smiled when he answered her, she had lost a bit of her ability to read people, now she was just going with the flow. ”I’m glad that you’ve been alright, and being busy can be good for the soul, I wish I was busy, it would help me get stuff out of my mind.” she commented.

”Anyway, how is Oliver and his reading ability? If I remember correctly he was an expert reader, the best I’ve ever seen for his age.” she said kneeling down to look Oliver. ”Yes I remember, you were the best!” she said opening her hand for Oliver to high five.

Elliot smiled at Ella but was unable to reply. Being busy was not good for him. It was making Elliot sick, evident by the pasty look his face now had, the slightly unkempt hair, and the rough stubble he had yet to shave off. Yet, he kept on smiling. He had to. There was nothing else to do. That was why Elliot was glad when their focus shifted to Oliver.

The young boy jumped as he slammed her hand with a high five. “I read always!” he told her proudly, and now Elliot could genuinely smile.

“He’s doing very well. He’s by far ahead of others his age in reading comprehension, and that’s not just myself being biased! He genuinely takes an interest in reading, but it’s your numeracy we need to work on, isn’t it Ollie?”

And, at the mention of the hated word, Oliver’s nose scrunched up.

“I hate numeracy,”
he confessed to Ella.

It was cold. Unbelievably cold. As if it weren't apparent enough by the snow that covered the area she still couldn't help but curse to herself as she first stepped out into the chill. So much did she wish that they never even heard of the festival, but with the promises of igloos and general fun in the ice and snow filling the ears of the little boy by her side she was helpless.
"Come on come on!" Rufus squealed, tugging his sister's hand eagerly as she locked up their little house's door. "Just hold on a second Rufus, it's not going anywhere," she chided lightly, though the moment the lock clicked the tot began his excited tugging once more.

The trip to the lake wasn't too bad, Millie able to keep the three year old's hand latched in hers even as he paused to look at the various mounds of snow longingly. By the time they reached the festival the child was at his limit, snatching his hand away as she ran full-sprint into a pile of snow. Mildred sighed, rubbing the bridge of her nose a bit before making her way to a nearby bench. Her gaze flickered to the man beside her only a moment, sitting as far as she could as her eyes trailed to follow the young boy wherever his adventures took him. Of course he was smart enough to not wander far.

“Goddess, do you wish it were Summer too?”

Her body tensed, physically flinching at the words as her eyes snapped to the man.
"Ah.." she stammered, her voice choked before she cleared her throat. Her face turned scarlet, eyes falling to the snow at her feet as she nudged it into a small mound in nervous habit. "...Y-yes. It's.. It's awfully cold.." she spoke, soft but still audible for one listening.

When the young boy high fived Ella she smiled. ”That’s right big boy, you’re the best reader your age!” she said trying to keep the young boy’s morale up. Ella knew it was hard for young kids suddenly feel like they couldn’t do something, she couldn’t let that happen to any kid.

When Elliot spoke about the numbers, Ella got up and thought for a while before looking at Oliver. ”Do you love candy Oliver?” she asked Oliver and then looked at Elliot ”Use jelly beans and candies, every successful attempt give him a jelly bean, it helps keep them motivated, and sugar can be good for the brain.” she said. She wasn’t an expert on medicine but she remembered when she was trying to study a sweet thing always gave her more energy to continue.

”Hey, Elliot, you’re doing a great job you know? Oliver is a wonderful kid.”

The sun was setting over the frozen lake, leaving only the slightest remnants of orange and pink dancing over the pure white snow. You could see the ice crystals reflecting light from the summertime watering hole until the grayness of dusk set in. String lights were draped all across the property- around tree trunks, across vendor awnings, along temporary fences made by rope that marked the edge of the water- and several fires had been started to offer light as well as warmth to the guests.

And what was the occasion? The Winter Solstice, of course! It was one of many festivals celebrated in The Valley. And it was Emalee’s first time attending.

By the time she arrived, there were dozens of folks buzzing around. You could hear the dull roar of everyone’s chatter, what sounded like music in the distance, a child’s laughter, a dog’s bark.

People were standing around pits and barrels of fire, sipping hot cocoa, ice skating, and enjoying the comradery of their fellow neighbors. This brought a wash of warmth over Emalee (despite the frigidness of the air) as her steps crunched through the fallen snow and ice towards the masses.

Her curls bounced as she made her way to the event and she fiddled with the black hair tie that squeezed her left wrist, debating whether or not to pull her hair back into a pony tail. Her nose and cheeks were bright pink from the frosty wind, causing her to sniffle a bit. She decided to keep her hair down, so as to not subject the tips of her ears to the same weathering.

Before she left her small room at the local Inn, Emalee checked herself out in the mirror that barely hung by a rusted nail. Her long sleeved black shirt had a slight scoop to the neckline, but was covered by the mustard yellow pea coat she bundled herself up in. Her dark denim stretched over her calves and tucked away inside her brown hiking boots that revealed the bunched up cream colored wool socks that kept her ankles and toes toasty.

With hands in her coat pockets, Emalee grinned as she took in everything around her. It was a beautiful evening, despite the cold, and people watching was one of her favorite sports, so excitement was the only feeling that truly mattered in the moment. The green eyed woman stopped to familiarize herself with her surroundings before she spotted the line for hot cocoa and merrily skipped her way over.

She looked forward to meeting new people and to being a part of the celebration. She even looked forward to maybe trying her hand at ice skating.

But what Emalee looked forward to most as she stood in line was the promise of melted marshmallows in creamy warm chocolatey goodness.

Ice-skating, right. It had been way too long that he actually tried this again. Maybe that was because he just disliked winters overall and rather stayed inside, with a good drink and maybe playing a bit on his guitar or two. But now, he actually felt more into the community. Het got a job and a house now, so sure it didn't harm anyone if he just showed his face for a minute?

He had never been good at ice-skating, so when he finally was on the ice, he moved slowly, trying to get the hang of it and feel more comfortable, later on he could try and pick up speed, but as his eyes drifted over the frozen lake, he saw there were quite a lot of people around, and he didn't really want to stumble into one.

No, someone else already did that for him. As soon as he felt the thud bumping against his back, a sharp pain went through his body and he tried to keep his balance, luckily not falling down on the ice. With a grunt he turned around, ready to lash out at the one who even dared to not look at his surroundings and randomly bump into people. But the look on his face softened as he saw who it was. Penny. And she wasn't really looking too good. 'Hey- Jesus Christ are you alright?' Oliver frowned, grabbing her arm in case of her fainting all of the sudden.

A little bit awkward, Charlie stumbled around near the lake. He literally didn't recognize any face and felt too shy to step towards somebody and start some sort of conversation. With his hands in his pockets he watched as people skated on the lake or waited in line to get some hot coco. Maybe he could just do that as well, at least he had something to warm his hands on.

As Charlie made his way to the stand, his eyes were still fixed at the lake, wondering how bad at ice skating he was since he hadn't done it in forever, the last time being when they visited his fathers parents back in Sweden.

Just as he was about to turn his head and actually look where he was going, he felt how he collided with another person. Stumbling back he hastily made an apology, stumbling over his words, brushed some dirt of his coat and actually looked at the person he just bumped into.

Elliot A. Mercier
SATURDAY WINTER 15, YEAR TWO • LATE MORNING • CLOUDY
"Every time I look in the mirror, all these lines on my face getting clearer"
[ TAG - Ella, open! ]

Oliver’s head nodded violently when she asked if he loved candy. “Yes!” he cried. “Yes!”

What kind of a five-year-old did she think he was? Oliver had a big sweet tooth, one that Elliot had to keep under control by pushing fruits and vegetables in his direction in exchange for a treat of a chocolate bar or cookie every now and again. Oliver was now looking at Ella expectantly, not grasping what she was telling his father to do but instead wondering if she had sweets to give him.

“I hadn’t thought of that,”
Elliot replied. “Normally I just make sure he gets regular breaks, usually when his attention starts to diverge.”

Elliot blushed profusely at her compliment. Oliver was his entire world and to be complimented on his parenting skills and how wonderful his son was growing up always brought Elliot to deep emotions, especially now when times were so tough for the Merciers.

“Thank you, Ella,”
he spoke shyly. “That… that means a lot to me.”

"I feel the same, I’m on my way, and I say things have changed for me, and that’s okay."
[ TAG - Mildred, open! ]

Samuel hadn’t meant to frighten the woman beside him. He was simply bored waiting for Misha and Kenzie to appear, and so he was making small talk with the first stranger to sit on the same bench as him. He didn’t look up from his coffee, either, as he now took a sip from it. He couldn’t see the nervous red in her face.

“Ack, hot,”
he exclaimed under his breath, face recoiling from the scald as the woman spoke. He spoke up again now to reply. “Yeah, it is. I wish it wa’ way warmer. I dunno ‘ow anybody can enjoy the cold when it’s so… cold. Yuck.”

"Summer it totally the best season, right?"
he stated, now turning to grin at the stranger.

"Truth is that it was always going to end, this symphony buzzing in my head"
[ TAG - Oliver, open! ]

If Penny had had a second to think, she would’ve been relieved it was Oliver she’d fallen into. They knew each other and liked each other, something that wasn’t the norm for Penny. When she felt so sick, so weak, what Penny didn’t want was to fall into an enemy who’d use her moment of nausea for their own agenda – to get one up on her.

She wasn’t going to faint (or, at least, she didn’t think so), but she was glad for his strong touch regardless. Her legs felt weak as both energy and colour were drained for her.

Penny barely managed a nod to his question before she changed her mind. “I… I think…”

Itris. Penny had never known her voice to be so diminished, so ill-sounding.

“I think I need to sit down.”

Before she threw up, that was.

Misha Faye

Misha was excited to take Kenzie to her first festival since they had moved back to Ioana. Back in Tessarae, they didn’t see much snow, so winters in Ioana were a welcome sight, and Kenzie was fascinated by the fluffy white snowflakes that fell to the ground.

“Oh, oh,” she said pointing to the ground as they walked to the lake. She wiggled in her daddy’s arms, desperate to get down and play in soft marshmallow-like precipitation.

“I know, I know,” he said, as they arrived at the lake. “Don’t you wanna find Uncle Sam first, though?” he asked, looking around the festival. He hoped he had bundled Kenzie up enough to protect her from the cold weather. Her first birthday was approaching soon and he didn’t want her to be sick for that.

Spotting Sam, Misha approached the man sitting on a bench. Sammmmm, Kenzie really wants to make her uncle into a snowman,” he said teasingly as Kenzie babbled incoherently. He then noticed Sam was talking to the woman seated next to him. “Oh, sorry, didn’t mean to interrupt.”

It was unbelievably cold, but Josiah thought it better to actually get out and do something today rather than sit inside. There was no point in opening the shop, since nearly all of the village was here, or at home staying cozied up by the fire. That left him with only the options of enjoying the festival, or sitting in solitude. So he chose the former, but before anything else, he needed something warm to keep him going.

He wasn’t sure what stall was for what as he wandered the meadows, and he settled on asking someone before he froze looking for it. He tapped a nearby woman on the shoulder. “I’m sorry, do you know if this is the line for the drinks?”

HAYDEN GREENE
Winter Solstice-Outfit-Ethereal (As Eugene), Open

Hayden found that Rusty had slid back to her side almost as fast as she had left it, but this was Rusty pretty much all the time. She was all over the place where she could be, and she enjoyed sliding about the the ice despite it being a shock at first. So long as her paws weren't cold it didn't matter to her. But the dog managed to have fun no matter where she was, and it was a reason that Hayden's dog had helped her so much in her worst moments of depression.

When she looked back at Eugene, jt was clear to her that he was having a little fun with his former self. Well in truth, that Eugene hadn't been Eugene at all, and she was glad she as always she had taken the steps to get past Eugene's evil twin Eumean to see sides of him she had not experienced prior. "Babe did you exist as a child?" She questioned with a raised eyebrow as she turned to hook her thumbs into the pockets of his jacket and pull herself into a comfortable cuddling distance.

"Or were you always the wicked witch of Whitmont, no childhood required?" Of course she was only teasing him, and she accentuated that with a pat to his chest before she broke off to crouch down in the snow, gathering a mound together.

"It's not bad to be a kid at heart sometimes though. My dad used to throw me into the snowbanks in front of my apartment building. Then he'd tell Brandon he had to dig me out, there's nothing funnier, according to my dad, than watching a two year old trying to bail his 7 year old sister out of the snow." The thought of Brandon caused her to stop moving her hands for a moment. Now he wouldn't try and dig her out of anything. But the thought was quickly wash away as Rusty tried adding to the mound by butting the snow with her head.

"You're going to give yourself brain freeze." Hayden mentioned to the dog who was wagging her tail vigorously. "You want to help?" She questioned her boyfriend as she turned back to look at him.

JACKSON MADDOCK
Winter Solstice-Outfit- Tecri (As Fiona), Open

Jackson was glad when Fiona had accepted the mug from him and put it up to her lips, and he used a similar tactic to hide his own goofy smile behind the mug. He was happy that Fiona had been here. Each year Jazmyn got more friendly with the other children in the village, and each year she much liked to hang out with them at these sorts of festivals. The most important thing to him was that Jazmyn was having fun, but Jackson found it nice to have someone to talk too as well.

"Oh things are fine, I came here with Inky as Jaz, but I'm afraid they've run off together, so here I am all by myself." He said with a laugh. "Well, I was anyway. But if you've got no one here with you, I'm free." He said with a grin. "Other than losing my daughter in the crowd, I'm fine. But she has Inky with her so she's going to be fine until she comes to find me.

She said that she was happy about him taking a break from work, and he waved it off softly. "Nah, Even if I wanted to work Jazmyn would have been upset if I hadn't come with her. She loves these sorts of things." He explained, looking down and taking note of her hand on his arm, though he didn't say anything about it. It was alright. Actually, it was nice. "And how are you? I have to tell you, I shared those muffins you made with the rest of the crew, they really loved them. They thought you brought them at the bakery." He said with a smile. "I told them it was you." He added with a nod.
